Norwegian Band Anthem Revival Announces Debut Album 'Legends of Old'
Norwegian rock outfit Anthem Revival has officially announced the release of their highly anticipated first-ever studio album, Legends of Old. Featuring a powerful collection of tracks including "Paradise," "Matrix," and "The One," the album marks a major milestone for the band as they transition from standalone singles to a cohesive, full-length musical statement.
"We decided it was about time we released something more than just singles," explains lead vocalist Tommy Henriksen. "It’s been a goal of ours for many years to create an album, and we are finally here."
Born Out of Hard Work and Isolation
The journey from abstract ideas to a finished record was both long and challenging. The foundation for Legends of Old was built during the global pandemic, forcing the band to adapt to entirely new ways of creating music.
"Åsmund [Jensen] and I started writing songs during COVID," Henriksen shares. "We began sending melodies and lyrics back and forth. Eventually, those files grew into the majority of the tracks on the album today. It was a massive learning curve—Åsmund had to master studio production and audio engineering in a very short amount of time."
Henriksen credits the album's distinct sound to the sheer determination of the primary songwriting duo. "The way these songs sound today is a direct result of Åsmund and me sticking to our guns and simply refusing to give up."
A Message of Hope and Resilience
When asked about the timing of the release, Henriksen notes that the band preferred to let the music dictate the schedule rather than industry deadlines. "Now is as good a time as any. We never planned an exact arrival date; we just decided that when the songs were truly finished, we’d let them out into the great wide open," he adds, nodding to the classic Tom Petty anthem.
Thematically, Legends of Old serves as an emotional anchor for navigating difficult times. "I think the overarching theme is hope," says Henriksen. "It’s about not giving up when the odds are stacked against you, and finding out who you are in the process. Or perhaps, more precisely, discovering who you want to be."
