Savana Funk Announce New Single ‘Làbas’ Ahead of UK Tour
Bologna-based funk, rock and blues trio Savana Funk have released their new single “Làbas” ahead of a run of UK live dates this October.
The band, made up of Aldo Betto, Blake Franchetto and Youssef Ait Bouazza, will bring their groove-driven sound to Manchester, Newcastle and London as part of a series of European shows this autumn.
“Làbas” continues Savana Funk's exploration of different musical traditions, combining funk, rock and blues with African and Mediterranean influences.
The track features introspective lyrics incorporating Darija and Moroccan Arabic, alongside layered grooves and textures that build on the sound established on the band's latest album, Behind The Eyes.
For the new single, Savana Funk have expanded their instrumentation with contributions from Andrea Beninati on cello and Max Castlunger on percussion. The track also marks the first time the band have worked with Riccardo Onori on saxophone.
The additional instrumentation gives “Làbas” a broader palette while maintaining the trio's focus on rhythm and groove.
From Bologna to the international stage
Savana Funk formed in Bologna in 2015, bringing together Aldo Betto, Blake Franchetto and Youssef Ait Bouazza.
The trio's music combines funk, rock, blues and African influences, with live performance playing a central role in their approach.
Over the years, the band have appeared at festivals alongside artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Seun Kuti, Kokoroko and Nu Genea.
Their musical direction has also developed towards Afro-Cosmic Disco, including a collaboration with international producer Gaudi.
In 2025, the group expanded its international touring activity with a tour of Indonesia, a performance at London's ILMC and an appearance at Sziget Festival in Budapest.
Behind The Eyes
Savana Funk released their latest album, Behind The Eyes, in February 2026.
The album was produced by Tommaso Colliva, known for his work with Muse and as a member of Calibro 35.
The release marked another stage in the band's musical development, bringing together the different influences that have shaped their sound.
The album was followed by a sold-out Italian club tour in March 2026, with the band receiving strong critical attention.
With the group now continuing their European live schedule, UK audiences will have three opportunities to see Savana Funk in October.
