Soul Glo Announce New Album NA I'M GON GRAB ALLAT and Share Intense New Track ‘Ppl Worried’
The Philadelphia hardcore innovators return with a raw, emotionally charged new album exploring grief, addiction, relationships, masculinity and the complexities of modern life, featuring Tunde Adebimpe, MIKE, BbyMutha and more.
Philadelphia’s genre-defying punk outfit Soul Glo are back with Ppl Worried, a frantic, emotionally charged track from their forthcoming album, NA I'M GON GRAB ALLAT, due for release on 15 January.
Frontman Pierce Jordan confronts the devastating impact of grief, the isolating effects of addiction and the destructive cycles of self-sabotage, delivering another unflinching account of personal struggle. The track sets the tone for an album that pushes Soul Glo’s uncompromising sound into deeper emotional territory, examining the challenges of relationships, community and surviving modern existence.
Community sits at the heart of NA I'M GON GRAB ALLAT. Jordan describes the album’s lyrics as being “largely about failures, mine and others, in my relationships with different men in my life.” Known for his fearless combination of vulnerability, humour and poetic intensity, Jordan explores the ways men can live “constantly at the expense of everyone”, confronting resentment, emotional isolation and the complicated dynamics of love.
On the explosive, hook-driven punk track ‘Resentment I: Back In Therapy’, Jordan examines relationships with people who “force the world to prove its love”. The song also features avant-garde punk and metal pioneer Eugene Robinson, vocalist for Whipping Boy, Oxbow and Buñuel, whose unmistakable delivery adds another layer of intensity.
A Fearless Exploration of Modern Life
Recorded at Foto Club in Philadelphia, NA I'M GON GRAB ALLAT retains Soul Glo’s distinctive experimental edge, combining breakneck punk energy, Jordan’s rapid-fire vocal delivery and the propulsive, unmistakable drumming of TJ Stevenson.
Across its 14 tracks, the band tackles the Black experience within punk and hardcore and everyday life, alongside drug abuse, anxiety, self-discovery, interpersonal conflict and the so-called male loneliness epidemic. Jordan dedicates the record to “everyone who has known the joy and pain of loving a man. All different types of love: platonic, romantic, familial, self.”
Following the acclaimed Diaspora Problems, the new album is both more intense and more accessible, expanding beyond guitar-driven hardcore to incorporate frenetic rhythmic patterns and heavy hip-hop influences.
The album’s collaborators further broaden its sonic palette. ‘B.A.N.D.S.’ features backing vocals from Tati Salazar of Commitment and Bear of Mannequin Pussy, while the closing track, ‘Cognac’, brings together New York experimental rapper MIKE and Chattanooga genre-defying artist BbyMutha.
Meanwhile, ‘Ppl Worried’ features Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio, whose contribution complements the song’s exploration of addiction, inner conflict and the emotional weight of watching someone struggle.
Together, these songs form more than a collection of confrontational punk anthems. They create a deeply personal, often uncomfortable portrait of the relationships, contradictions and experiences that shape contemporary life.
From Philadelphia DIY Roots to Hardcore Trailblazers
Formed in Philadelphia in 2014, Soul Glo have established themselves as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary hardcore. Pitchfork previously described the band as the “future of hardcore”, while their breakthrough 2022 album, Diaspora Problems, marked the culmination of years spent touring, developing their sound and performing in basements, small clubs and DIY spaces.
The record has amassed more than 14 million streams and received widespread critical acclaim. Brooklyn Vegan called it “one of the best punk albums released in recent memory”, while Pitchfork praised its combination of “radical, actionable rhetoric, absurdist humor, and breathtaking vulnerability.”
Since then, Soul Glo have continued to expand their reach, touring extensively, joining generational emo favourites My Chemical Romance on the road, performing at Coachella’s Sonora Stage in 2023 and delivering the first hardcore set at the renowned Tiny Desk concert series.
With NA I'M GON GRAB ALLAT, Soul Glo build on that momentum while pushing their music and songwriting into increasingly personal territory. The result promises another uncompromising statement from a band unafraid to confront difficult truths through the collision of punk, hardcore and hip-hop.
