Tara Clerkin Trio Announce US Tour Ahead of Autumn UK Dates

Tara Clerkin Trio have announced a US and Canadian tour for January and February 2027, following their upcoming autumn UK dates and the release of their latest album, Somewhere Good.

Tickets for the North American shows go on sale Friday 2 October at 10am local time.

The announcement comes ahead of the trio's UK tour, which begins with two sold-out performances at London's ICA on 20 and 21 October.

The band will also play dates across Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Oxford, Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh, with several shows already sold out.

Somewhere Good

Somewhere Good is the latest album from the Bristol/London-based trio of Tara Clerkin, Sunny Joe Paradisos and Patrick Benjamin.

Released via World of Echo, the album is available on vinyl, limited-edition deluxe vinyl featuring a two-track bonus 7-inch, CD and digital formats.

The record follows the trio's 2023 mini album On The Turning Ground and their earlier releases, including In Spring and their self-titled 2020 debut.

The new album has already attracted attention from music publications, with six tracks receiving 6 Music playlist support. The title track, “Somewhere Good,” was also awarded Best New Music by Pitchfork.

The album's other featured track, “Lazy Daisy,” has also received playlist attention.

The Guardian previously described the group's music as “glimmering, minimalist jazz,” highlighting its combination of field-recording textures, baroque-inspired strings and a sense of freshness.

A distinctive sound

The Tara Clerkin Trio's music draws together elements of jazz, avant-pop, modern classical, folk and electronic music, while retaining a distinctly experimental approach.

Musician Ryan Davis, of Ryan Davis and the Roundhouse Band, wrote extensively about Somewhere Good following the album's release.

Davis described the trio as music that closely matches his own musical tastes, while praising the band's ability to create arrangements that leave room for improvisation and experimentation.

He also highlighted the record's combination of harmonium, upright bass, wind instruments, acoustic guitar, keyboards, samples and percussion.

For Davis, the album's Bristol connections are noticeable, although he argues that the trio's sound extends well beyond straightforward comparisons with the city's celebrated trip-hop heritage.

From Bristol to the world

The trio formed in Bristol in 2020 and consists of Tara Clerkin, Sunny Joe Paradisos and Patrick Benjamin.

Their self-titled debut was followed by In Spring in 2021 and On The Turning Ground in 2023, with the releases appearing through London's World of Echo label.

Somewhere Good marks the group's latest full-length release and continues their exploration of experimental arrangements, improvised sections and understated songwriting.

The album addresses themes including self-defeat, disease, displacement, restlessness and gentrification, while giving the music space to develop through extended arrangements and improvisation.
